About the Dan Emmerson Memorial Scholarship Fund
Dan Emmerson graduated from Cañon City High School in 1999. While a student at CCHS, Dan ran both cross country and track and helped lead his cross country team to a state championship in the fall of 1998. Dan was student council president, a peer counselor, and a member of the National Honor Society. Upon graduation, he ranked in the top of his class and served as Head Boy.
With the help of multiple scholarships, Dan attended the prestigious George Washington University in Washington D.C, where he excelled. He graduated in 2003 with a degree in Emergency Medicine, and a dream of making a difference in the world and in the medical field.
Dan met an untimely death at the age of 26.
Whatever endeavor, Dan did it with all his heart. He excelled as a scholar, athlete, leader, son, brother, uncle and friend. His success was largely in part of various support from family, friends, and community. To honor Dan and his community that he so greatly loved, a fundraiser has been established to finance a scholarship to be awarded to a local senior attending an institution of higher education.
